I don’t know if Rob Thomas will change his mind in the future, but it isn’t looking so good for the VERONICA MARS movie. 

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that according to Thomas, the current economy and lack of viewer interest has hurt the chances of a big screen jump for the series. Although “both [he and star Kristen Bell] would love to do it,” the momentum on the project seems to be lost.

However, Thomas doesn’t rule out continuing MARS as a comicbook series, as long as he gets to write it. 

Fans can find a consolation prize in the fact that Bell will be guest starring on Thomas’ new show, PARTY DOWN, as a character with a similar name. She appeared in the May 22 finale as former Party Down employee Veronica Moon. 

I know you have been hearing the rumors for a long time, but this time the news about Veronica Mars movie comes direct from the horse’s mouth. Kristen Bell, who played the title role in the show that ended in 2007, has reportedly said that although she did not have any updates, the team was trying to make the movie happen. Kristen who has claimed that Veronica Mars was the most important part of her life, has also been reported as saying that she was as excited as everybody else for the project to start rolling and with everyone all ready to go, the team just needed to pull it together.

It has also been reported elsewhere, that the shows creator, Rob Thomas is working on the screen play for the movie, in keeping with the promise he made to the show’s cult fan base that he would someday bring Veronica Mars to the big screen. Seemingly, the mastermind of the show has been discussing some ideas about the direction the movie will go in, with Kristen. He has reportedly also has a couple of the plotlines or his thoughts about what he would want, set out and is getting feedback from people about the same.

Well let’s hope that this time around the Veronica Mars movie does eventually get made. We fans have been eagerly waiting for our much-loved teen-detective show to make its big return in the form of a movie. And as each new rumor raises our hopes we feel equally disappointed when there is no action following the rumor. But as they say hope is what makes life go! So let’s keep hoping that our hopes do not get dashed this time around and that millions of fans, who are eagerly waiting to see their favorite detective, Veronica Mars back in action, are not disappointed one more time!
